Importance of Prayers (Namaz)
It is mandatory for all Muslims to offer the Namaz. Namaz (Salah) is called the second pillar of Islam from the five pillars of Islam. It is said in Holy Quran 700 times to Muslims to offer namaz. Apart from this, many hadiths of our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) show us the importance of prayers.
Importance of Prayers (Namaz) By Quran
“When you go forth journeying in the land, there is no blame on you if you shorten the Prayer, (especially) if you fear that the unbelievers might cause you harm. Surely the unbelievers are your open enemies.” (4:101)
Another Ayat;
“And establish prayer and give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah of what you do, is Seeing.” (2:110)
Importance of Prayers (Namaz) By Hadiths,
Imam As-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: “One obligatory prayer is better than performing Hajj twenty times, and the performance of one Hajj is better than giving away a house full of gold.” (Biharul Anwar, Volume 82, Page 227)
How Long Should Each Prayer (Salah) Take?
Nowadays, many Muslims won’t offer prayer because they though it takes a lot of time. But it is not true. It is right that life has become very busy in this advanced world. But offering namaz is mandatory. All the prayers collectively take less than 1 hour.
Fajr: Fajr has 4 rakats. So, this prayer won’t take longer than 5 to 7 minutes.
Zuhr: Dhuhr has 12 rakats. It takes only 15 minutes.
Asr: Asr has total of 8 rakats. So, this prayer only takes 10 minutes.
Maghrib: Maghrib has 7 rakats. So, Maghrib takes only 10 minutes.
Isha: Isha is the largest prayer with 17 rakats. But it also won’t take longer than 20 minutes.
All the prayers collectively take less than 1 hour. Furthermore, Namaz (Salah) is a beautiful way to establish a connection with Allah Almighty.
