The latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings show that Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman has made significant progress and is now the closest contender to Babar Azam.
Fakhar Zaman has achieved this feat due to his outstanding performance in the ongoing home ODI series against New Zealand, where he has scored consecutive centuries, propelling his team to a dominant position in the five-match series. In the first match of the series, he scored 117 runs, and in the second match, he delivered a magnificent performance with an unbeaten 180 runs. As a result of his excellent performance, Fakhar Zaman has moved up eight places to occupy the second position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings update, just behind Babar Azam. He is elevated to a career-best rating points of 784.
With this development, Pakistan currently has three players ranked in the top five on the latest ODI batting charts, a positive sign ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup later this year. Alongside Fakhar and Babar, Imam-ul-Haq is also among the top five, while South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen and India’s Shubman Gill occupy the other two spots.
