Eid ul Fitr 2023: Govt announces 5 Eid holidays in Pakistan

The federal government has announced a five-day-long Eid holidays in Pakistan.

According to a statement issued by Ministry of Interior, Eid ul Fitr holidays will be observed from Friday, April 21 to Tuesday, April 25 2023. The holidays were approved on the recommendation of the Cabinet Division.

Earlier, Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the Secretary-General of Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC), has announced that the committee will convene on Thursday, April 20 for Shawwal moon sighting. If the crescent is sighted that evening, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, April 21.

The meeting is set to be held at the religious affairs ministry in Islamabad and will be presided over by Ruet-e-Halal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

Mufti Khalid Ijaz said that Eid ul Fitr 2023 would most likely be celebrated on April 22 after completing 30 fasting days of the holy month of Ramazan.

The meetings of the zonal committees will be held at designated locations across the country.
